Shamballa is located in a protected eco system that has enabled it to stay untouched by the western world, creating an enviroment that enables you to witness real unspoilt Thailand and its local inhabitants.

The resort is situated on the shores of Doc Rai, on a headland of a eucalyptus trees, giving you the feeling that you are on an island oasis, hidden away from time, with endless sunsets across the waters for you to marvel at and ride with. The area was once a valley owned by the King, which he had flooded to form the the present day lake. This he had stocked with masses of fish to enable local people to fish for and provide them with a living.

Shambala can be reached by water or down a 1km sandy road, thats encased in a forest of protected hard wood trees. This journey produces the first step of the escapism from your real world to a dream world, as you travel down the windy track passing the homes of the Hissan tribal people. The journey is complete when your vision sets upon the mirror-still water of the lake and the local craftsmanship of the Thai style buildings. You feel lost, but very much at home with the comfortable feel this amazing hideaway produces.

Fittingly the main complex is erected from sacred timbers that came with the blessing of the important temple of Kumuaeing set in its jungle. This was then blessed by a Buddha ceremony by the head monk of the Wot Temple Arun, to ensure good fortune and enlightenment for those who step foot upon this place.

Shambala is a place from which you will reap the feel good factor of residing on the water, with only the sounds of the jumping fish, frogs croaking and birds singing. Time stands still here, as your days roll into one for a unbelievable tranquil experience. True Thai culture is about having fun in all that they do in life, with a warless history that believes in the Buddha way of unconditional love and of giving without asking.

Wakeboarding Thailand was born in keeping with this tradition. We hope that visitors to Wakeboarding Thailand find their own 'shambala' whilst here, by believing in and finding the beauty of their dreams.
